During the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, when the country was strong and the people were rich, the Qianlong Emperor received a statue of the god from the Zangbian monks on his 27th birthday. In order to prevent the Tien-Di Gang rebels from seizing the statue, the vice president of the imperial guards placed the statue in the Lingyin Temple by the West Lake. Qianlong led the crowd to see the idol, but he was assassinated by the rebels.
